Research in the School of Technology
The School of Technology has an excellent reputation for research and knowledge transfer. It has seen a huge growth in its research activity since 2001. The School contains a number of active research groups and includes internationally recognised researchers in all its disciplines. Research in the School is supported by the UK Research Councils, the European Commission, industry and charitable foundations.
Research in the School was well-rated in the recent Research Assessment Exercise. We submitted just over 50% of our academic staff to 5 Units of Assessment across the University. Overall, 100% of research activity was judged to be at national level or higher, 75% was judged to be at international level or higher and 8% judged world leading. See the RAE2008 page for further details.
